Jim and I met many new acquaintances and many older acquaintances who we had

not seen for many years. It made what was otherwise an unpleasant experience

much more bearable and in the end made it a pleasant day.

and God for giving us such a nice day.

Background and Provenance:

Floyd Chinn ("Buster") was my maternal uncle, who passed away in 1994. He was born and raised in Vandalia, going on to graduate from the University of Missouri with a degree in

Electrical Engineering in 1929. From there, he took a job with AT&T Long Lines supervising the installation of the long distance telephone infrastructure throughout the United States,

and around the world. He moved to Oklahoma City in the early Thirties with is wife, Lee Ann. From there, they moved on to Chicago, New York

and finally Kansas City. From the early days, Lee Ann was an afficianado of antiques, partcularly plates and glass, and most of the material shown here was acquired

during the 30's, 40's and 50's. For his part, Buster was an iconoclastic meat and potatos kind of guy, but he loved wood, specifically Walnut, and tools.

And he didn't like junk. The items here are for the most part are the artifacts of their soujourn through life; I hope you find something of interest among them.

It was given as a gift to my stepson in 1994 and has not been used since. We believe it to be in perfect operating condition but have no way of knowing for sure. The boat was stored outdoors for several years but as been in dry storage since 1997. It is weathered but probably quite restorable. The sail has been dry stored throughout. The tires have been flat for at least several years; however, they appear to have been new when hauled from Ohio. I recently inflated them and see no signs of damage and they appear to hold pressure.
